This year the First Grade classes will begin the school year working on a poster for the Hampton Bays Fire Department's "Fire Prevention Posters Contest!". Every year the Hampton Bays Fire Department hosts a "Fire Prevention Poster Contest". Every Student in the school is encouraged to participate in this contest. Three winners are picked from each grade level by the HBFD. This years theme is:
"Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere!"
"Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere!"
The student's have been working on a project where they are using watercolors. I read them the story "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. Its about a little girl who feels she can't draw. Her teacher asks her to start with a dot and see where it will take her. The little girl created a dot and the teacher hung it over her desk. The girl felt she could make a better dot than her first dot. So she created many different dots.
